Malcolm Meredith, of Manassas, Virginia, purchased a lottery ticket for the May 20 Mega Millions drawing, as indicated by the Virginia Lottery.

Meredith clutched the ticket and weeks after the fact, he heard a second point of view and figured out he won.

Meredith took the pass to the express lottery's Northern Virginia Customer Service Center in Woodbridge, Virginia, where he learned he won $1 million, the delivery said.
